What Is a Nucleus Colony?
A nucleus colony (nuc) is a small, established honey bee colony with a laying queen, brood in all stages, and a working population of bees.
It is the most reliable way to start beekeeping, allowing the colony to build quickly and develop into a full hive over the season.
What You Will Receive
Each Langstroth nucleus colony includes:
- Five Langstroth brood frames with brood in all stages
- A marked F1 Buckfast queen selected for temperament and productivity
- Healthy worker bees with sufficient stores at handover
- Frames drawn from managed, health-monitored colonies
Supplied on durable ANEL plastic Langstroth frames - hygienic, long-lasting, and compatible with standard Langstroth equipment, including Flow Hives.
Supplied ready for transport in a secure travel box.
Colonies are assembled by us once conditions allow steady development and are ready for installation from mid-June onwards (weather dependent).
